Huh, im actually shocked we still get Covid. Yeah, its endemic now (That means it’s practically just annoying rather than deadly) but i haven met a single person with it for years.

Endemic doesn't mean it's less lethal (though current covid definitely is compared to earlier strains), it just means it's omnipresent, i.e. it will always exist in some portion of the population and isn't contained. Like the flu or common colds.

The real nightmare scenario is a highly lethal disease that becomes hyperendemic (the portion of the population it always exists in is very high). Smallpox and plague have arguably gotten close before.
