The problem is time. Depending on the internal state of the kingdom, it could take a long time to mobilize troops. Even if the friendly king had active troops available or sent his personal guards, it would take them a while to reach a remote village in the forest. King Ferme's troops are almost outside their walls. They could request help and try to fight it out, but the village would be wiped out long before reinforcements arrived.

If Ferme raised the taxes so high that a village got tired of paying and fled, and he let them get away with it, then other villages would follow. King Ferme probably fears It would eventually spiral out of control, and his kingdom would collapse.

I thought they were going to just kill/injury a couple of soldiers in ambushes in the forest when he was talking about making them retreat or negotiate since they were elites he didnt want to lose

Firstly, it is stupid to come personally into a death forest in which a disaster level Griffin lives, that possibly sides with whom I plan to attack. Maybe he thinks he has to judge the situation at hand, but still. It's a simple seek and destroy order. Bored or not, this is not clever. But they live in a world, in which you can be remotely hexed, so it doesn't matter, if you curl yourself up in the palace or not.

Secondly, that smug bastard. "How dare they to run? They don't want to do, what I tell them? Fair. In turn I kill them. But running away is so annoying! Just because they don't want me to end their lives." No matter what his character was like before, that one has to go. Either by leaving the forest or vanishing into it.

They should have had more training in fighting, only one person knows how to use the bow, in 3 years they should at least tried. And didn't they had a day before they started the search ? And why would a king with a small army go hunt some villagers ?

This plan seems dumb, why would a king choose to not merc a tiny village? Also his whole country is starving and he's wasting food resources moving this army around. How is he even feeding them? Also they are walking through the Griffons territory right? Surely the griffon would be like "No bueno"
