No, he didn't bring any gun or any modern weapon from his world. He simply re-learn his magic spell and enhance it to be able to be used more effectively in isekai. His magic output in this isekai is like only 50%-60% of his original power. After Vol. 09 his magic output should be hit 100% and more.

According to what others said, it's not that the author went AWOL but that the publishing company were being jerks.

I have read the LN till 8th volume and so far, it seems that the manga is not following the LN strictly. In the manga, Reiji and gang meet Suimei while he was running from the battle maniac princess. LN spoilers (kinda) In the LN, they meet earlier. In fact, Reiji and co. are guided by Lefille to Suimei's inn room after they save her tiny form from a pedo and later on are surprised by how she grew up. Plus this whole chapter occurs before the previous few chapters in the LN.
It might be possible that the mangaka is following the WN instead of the LN. So I'm gonna be be optimistic and assume that the author will atleast update the WN once the manga starts to catch up with the WN.

In the LNShe tries to force Suimei to go back to Astel. At least according to her, Suimei is holding back Reiji by putting himself in danger (she doesn't know that Suimei is strong). According to her, Reiji is very very worried about Suimei and this acts as a hinderance to his hero journey. She then proceeds to have a spar to see if he can roam around on his own with Suimei and loses, which leads to her giving up on her plan to send Suimei back to Astel

Thanks for this! I was kinda confused when I saw that this chapter was in an earlier part of the LN compared to the previous, so I decided to just not write it on the end page

What happened was the publisher treated the author poorly, then delayed the release of volume 9 for over a year. The author lost motivation to write the story. He left his publisher and never got a new one for this light novel. He abandoned it for a new story.

The Princess didn't know about that deal and the king didn't tell anyone about it either. The only people who knew it are the king and Menia. That's also the people who already see and understand how powerful Suimei is, despite him getting a nerf in this isekai.

either it ends when they find a way to get back to earth or when the new girl to add to Suimei's harem's arc is completed which happens just before he finds a way to go back to earth so if you want a longer series, better hope its the first option
