Yeah I feel like they have really forced the whole "Look at the suffering kids, now they suffer more feel bad for them." Alot of this makes no sense like how "Forced cutscene" part makes no sense since different game systems wouldn't affect the other.
You kinda missed how the mechanics work isla wasn't affected by forced cutscene death because she is both from another system and a protagonist. The ones who were affected were the twins. It's why isla decided to have the twins eat her because ascending them to heroes would grant them said protection and at the very least there would be a hero to to carry her will.

Feels like this could have all been avoided. I get that it was a scripted scenario, but they could have skipped it in various ways if they expected something. Or something at least. Just somehow felt very contrived.
That's just the way of things. The world is being influenced by the games introduced. From the resource system Takuto has to the attack mechanics that the Brave Quester demons have. In the LNs, it straight up says that despite Icerock being able to summon loads of wolves, he can only fight with 2 or 3 at his side at a time which guaranteed Atou the win because she can kill the ones outside of "battle" for skills and heals.

Yeah what part of that means it has to teleport these randoms brats across the planet?
Why can the ant thing just make up a new skill that turns people into heroes if they eat her heart?
This is playground magic fight level shit
It's not a new skill. It's from the Eternal Nations game and she leveled up when she killed Flamin. She banked the points so Ira could decide how to spend them but after she shielded the girls from the attack she realized she was going to die and spent all of her points to buy "Demise of the Crown" which uplifts another nearby unit into a Hero.

this is like people play FFVII and asking why that one character has to die when we have phoenix down.

Isla already power through the scripted event in the first place to protect her children. Consider the event is Hero survive and their friend die.

And why the twin? The system can't pulled Takuto in cause he is another god, it won't pulled Atou or random black elves cause the scripted event asking for emotional damage. So of course it's gonna drag the twins in.

Atou even got hit by a scripted event move where she have to stay still and eat the attack, which she got after she kills the ice dude.

Can't she be summoned again if she is just one of the characters in a strategy game? She is just considered to be a costly unit in the first place, that has higher price reflected in better stats but still a unit nonetheless. There is probably just cooldown period or increased price for resummon or some other condition.
Unfortunately, it's already been stated by Takuto that a Hero cannot be created twice in the same campaign. He commented on this when Atou said she'd defend him even if it costed her life.

A real tragedy, Bug Mom was the best.

But on another note THE ART IN THIS MANGA IS SO GOOD. Midorihana Yasaiko does a great job at eliciting horror and expressing tragedy!
