It’s pretty sad because they’re treating what Hiromi wants as this lofty ideal that’s basically impossible, when all he wants is to have a wife and kids to cherish.
He and his girlfriend are NOT incompatible. They both genuinely like each other and have no weird agendas or anything. They are both a bit damaged and have insecurities, but they perfectly normal concerns that show how much they care about the other person and want it to work. All they need is to compromise a little here and there and they’ll make it work.

You are reading a Sasuga Kei manga. Your headcanon is so out of the realm of what she could actually write that it stopped being funny half way through and became sad. People should really stop attributing way over the top writing insight to those with zero talent, let alone a drama slop mangaka.
Except for the part where that's exactly how Sasuga Kei writes. Grand ideas and themes, just with piss poor execution, sacrificing coherent story logic for a "ooh look at the blue curtains, see what I did there" style approach. You can acknowledge her ineptitude at getting her ideas across while still seeing that they're at least present.

And if she really is a completely talentless hack, then what's keeping you here bitching about her instead of reading the 100000 other series on this site?

Binged all the new chs. So far it does feel like everyone is getting their respective loose ends tied up, but considering this is Kei...im not expecting it to end like this. I feel more than anything this was more just a prologue before things get even messier (tho who knows maybe it wont) I kinda expect the Lily relationship to get revealed to the other housemates and have that be a point of contention again as well. I do surprisingly agree with Anju's take on Nodokas and Harumi's relationship, even during the shower she was wondering if she was needed and as the others have mentioned Harumi is someone who seems fairly independent outside of wanting a family I do think that might probably cause some friction in the long term.

Yeah Anju’s reasons for speaking out were obviously selfish, but Nonoka seems more like she can’t get over the feeling of losing control in her last relationship so she might try and overcompensate to stay with Hiromi and it will end up causing unnecessary problems.

I don't think the author is treating the life he envisions as impossible at all. I think she's treating it as naïve, which is a significant difference. Hiromi grew up as an orphan, and he romanticizes the notion of a traditional nuclear family and thinks that's his "endgame", where he'll be truly happy. I think his arc over the manga is to get to the point where he understands that's where the work begins, not ends. Happiness isn't something you secure for yourself and then enjoy. It's something you get up and choose to make for yourself every day for the rest of your life.

The whole arc with Nonoka is interesting to me because I think her place in the story is to disabuse Hiromi of that notion that it's really just as simple as finding a traditional girl and settling down with her. She represents everything he thinks he wants, and he's rebounding hard into her arms without really taking the time to understand who she is and what she wants out of life other than "a partner". And her insecurity as a person feels very real, too: she needs to be needed, and doesn't know how to define herself except through the eyes of another person. I think my largest gripe with this story arc is just that because she's not one of the main cast, I doubt we'll get to see her own journey to full maturity. I think her character and story are more interesting than, for example, Mio, whose arc has been fairly predictable and straightforward.

I'm here to see how Kei will fuck up this time as hers are legendarily bad. It's like going to a circus to see famous freaks. However i'm not retarded enough to pretend that it's intricate or deep writing. Some people are already covering that aspect here as i've pointed out. Grand ideas, lmao. Read a book.

Binged all the recently uploaded chapters and it does seem like the author is trying to give each of the girls their own resolutions and tie up their plot threads, which normally would be a sign that things are headed for the logical conclusion but this is Sasuga Kei so I know she's going to fuck up his current relationship and shit is just going to spiral downwards from there. Plus Tsubasa and Lily still gotta get their shit figured out as well.
Exactly my thoughts, this is WAY too linear at the moment for the usual stuff. I envision a break up of this current situation, yet another move toward the artist or someone in between then and now. Maybe a meddling of the other meeting of parents/misunderstandings with the young guy there. This is way too straightforward a path for this author.

Everything you said in these passages is true, but is any of it a deal breaker?

All they need is some honest conversation and compromise and they’ll both be happy. They both have past experiences that colour their approach to relationships, sure, but none of it is dysfunctional or damaging. It’s just not well aligned. People are treating them like they are immutable problems rather than something that can be solved.

10% everyone dies in a car crash
Juat Nonoka probably, or both Tsuba and Nonoka but Nonoka's heart, kidney, eyes etc. is used to save Tsubasa. Rest of them take turns being surrogate mothers for their children.

Kouhai-kun....oof dude. Just oof.

I'd say current chances are
  • 70% Tsubasa
  • 20% Yukari
  • 10% Lily
Wrong. 100% odds of whoever ends up in a coma first. right now that front runner is Anju who was almost choked out.

Thanks Anju. Your poison fucked up yet another relationship. Everyone working hard to make her give up lol. Even the family. Fucking sasuga kei.
TBCF Anju just pointed out the flaw that was already there. Still a dick move.

I tend to think he'll wind up with Tsubasa. I've got a few specific reasons for thinking that:
  • First, like I said above, I think this story is fundamentally about the main characters confronting their own childish ideas of happiness and maturing to the point where they can share a life with a partner. Yukari serves as sort of the "spirit guide" for all of them because when the story begins, she's the only one who's already gone through that process, had her illusions shattered and rebuilt her life and self-respect.
  • Second, Tsubasa is the most obvious trainwreck. She is what Hina was at the start of DNK: an irresponsible alcoholic who maintains an external aura of professionalism and success, while being inwardly an emotional mess and unable to have healthy relationships with the people around her. There are some strong parallels to Yuki from GE here as well. If we can say anything from a sample size of n=2, this is what Sasuga's ideal heroine looks like: another broken, flawed human grappling with her own maturity issues alongside the protagonist, not a perfect ideal for him to strive for or a manic pixie dream girl who's going to magically fix his life.
  • And last, Sasuga never lets us forget that Tsubasa is regretting the choices she's making. She's getting a lot of screen time in other characters' arcs to keep reinforcing that point.

But of course, all of this could just be my reading into it. Time will tell.

that chapter when tsubasa with her coworker in hotel still break my heart till this day😭
Considering that Hiroto was dense AF + he banged his ex + dated Lily + dating Nonoka kinda hard to complain about Tsubasa

So:
  • Lily was the first to have her arc, and it sort of got its conclusion
  • Mio arc wrapped up quickly
  • Anju had a pretty long wrap-up
  • Hiromi's current girlfriend (whose name I never remember) is very likely getting dumped SOON™
Then the most likely winning heroines are either Tsubasa, who is closest to Hiromi's age, a fan favorite and never had a proper wrap-up to her arc, or Yukari, who has been almost exclusively a support character... Or a dark horse Lily, though I doubt it.

I'd say current chances are
  • 70% Tsubasa
  • 20% Yukari
  • 10% Lily
We get a reminder of Lily regretting almost every ch, I don't think she has a conclusion. I would say Tsubasa and Lily are the ones with more chances, and pretty close one.

I agree, and I think she's absolutely the other most-probable final wife candidate (assuming Sasuka doesn't throw us a curveball and have Hiromi wind up with none of them, which is possible, though I would say quite unlikely). I may be over-weighting these factors, but I think there are two main reasons I consider her less likely than Tsubasa:
  • She's the "first girl" and most obvious romantic candidate from the start, making her the safe and predictable pick in a series written by an author who notoriously loves throwing curveballs.
  • She's considerably younger than Hiromi, and the "isn't it just a little creepy for 27 year old man to be dating a 20 year old student" factor is lampshaded (by Hayato, no less!) very early on.
One of the things I had forgotten and really noticed when going back and translating volume 1 is just how heavily she's put front-and-center in the first arc of the series, strongly hinting at the relationship that's going to form well before it actually does.

Past relationship's gonna last like that. Especially when the girl herself didn't do anything wrong.

Tsubasa time! It's good that she's realizing she's not that serious about her boyfriend. Well, not good for her boyfriend, and the breakup will fuck her shit up too. But good for me! #TeamTsubasa.

Anxious for Nonoka, who is anxious for herself since her last relationship was with a low-effort deadbeat cheater. Of course she's feeling gun shy. And Hiromi's sharehouse mates give her plenty to feel anxious about. Plus the distance. Yeah, they've been doomed from the start. Which is too bad, she's a nice lady, and it's not like Hiromi has done anything wrong. You just can't build a house on a pit full of dynamite.
how would anyone be serious about some guy who took advantage of her heartbreak to sleep with them? If they were going smooth it would be giga unrealistic, The comments here in that chapter were crazy 'oh you would be called gay if you didnt do it' what a stupid mentality people have.

Yeah, Tsubasa has more chances for me too, mainly for you first point. Considering the author, your second point of being "a little creepy" is a plus, lol.

But like you said, I'm pretty sure that some curve balls are going to make it messier than it should even if we are right hahaha
