Interesting that the girl lacked an iris for her eyes while her mother and Kana had one, and Kana lost her irises when she got stabbed in the brain by the creature. Hinting that the girl was indoctrinated from the start. Also the girl gets dirtier as the story progresses so she's not taking care of herself anymore.
