araki pulls so many steaming hot takes out of his ass, but this stuff about not being a complete human because of a distant father really takes the cake

That thing about not having a father figure in your life is kind of true, from what I've seen in my life. Not having someone in your life that represents a father figure can lead you to make some errors that you were supposed to learn to avoid from a father. Mothers can be both a mother and father figure if they were raised by a father who disciplined them right. I'm not trying to sound misogynistic, but from where I've been born and raised, a father figure is always needed to teach the kids how to act correctly and not act rebellious, lest they commit errors in their life that they might regret.

That said, I have no idea how Jolyne got that mark on her arm. Maybe it has to do with her having put Star Platinum inside her memories? But that star makeup on her face doh! I ain't gonna lie, that shit looks kinda dope. Araki shoulda kept it on her

have some of you never heard of psychological research? it's not a "hot take" it's just data collected based on what fatherless people act and end up like. more likely to commit crimes, violent or nonviolent and a ton of other shit touched upon in the chapter kinda. obviously there's a percentage that don't fall into this category, but numbers don't lie

So much to just understand a simple fact. Joutaro needs to only think about himself sometimes for God sake.

I think it's a bit of hot take. Having parents is obviously important to your development, but I think he's exaggerating it a bit. Growing and maturing is harder without a father (or mother), but that doesn't mean you'll be an incomplete person. It's an obstacle in your life, not a permanent stop.

I love JoJo but come on every case is different I never had a father and I know what true love is and I'm not going to believe every word some irresponsible person tells me

My completely unsubstantiated two cents; I think having a good father figure, or role model, seperate from someone's biological or adoptive parents, helps in the path to one's maturity, although to say you NEED one to reach proper self-actualization is rather hyperbolic. I think Araki was taking a bit of the piss, considering Jolyne's unconscious state, that dream and the psychiatrist are probably reinforcing her own biases, and is likely just a literary device to bridge the physical and metaphorical gap between Jotaro and Jolyne. If not, quite frankly, this seems a yarn ball I'd rather not unravel.

I like how the Jotaro and Jolyne relationship is handled because its very interesting but claiming she isnt a "complete human being who doesnt understand the meaning of true love" just because Jotaro was absent from her life is so stupid. I get that children probably need a father figure to mature better but that father figure doesnt have to be your biological father it can be your grandpa or a teacher. I don't know it just feels like a stretch which is a shame because of how interesting their relationship is and how it affects Jolyne.

Something i don't get is why are people arguing about the whole "can't become a functional human being" part, when the real hottake is how Jolyne suddenly thinks she understands her dad cuz she had a flashback and now all of her childhood trauma is magically gone.

The “it’s just jojo” argument is so stupid. “haha lmao meme show kono dio da”
Jojo can be nonsensical memeable bullshit, but there are still aspects of jojo that can be seriously discussed, like I don’t know, a teen who felt abandoned by her father.

Not the best example because lol dolphins but I rest my case
