people underestimate how powerfull a tame spell really is from a narative point of wiev, but it would come down to how the tame spell work.
if the spell can enslave a monster without the need to weaken it regardless of power, then any monster would be fair game.
but most of the time the tame spell and the like usually requires the caster to be more powerful, the target to be willing to be tamed, some ritual or something for it to work.
but if we assume he cant just shrug it off by being powerful as heck and not having any type of magic immunity, then yeah it would work on him like any other monster.
i dont think there is a tame spell in the Rimuru universe, but if there was its likely requires the monster to be weaker than the caster and would fail as i cant see Rimuru being that much weaker.
Even if our MC here is powerful beyond belief.

something not alot of stories consider is that tamed monster also seem to understand human speech to some extent after being taimed, so it could also work as a translation spell for monster, not that Rimuru needs it.

Just about every chapter you see the MC being grateful for something. I am not saying there is anything wrong with it, it just gets old.

@Mapax I kind of agree, but I feel like that's the trend for a lot of fantasy manga. The MCs are so polite or modest to an insane degree despite being so overpowered. It does get annoying seeing it so much. Guess it's a cultural thing.

@CraniumAmbiguity Maybe the slime would be able to detect metals. I would gladly let my slime eat sub par material if he found me something special or rare. Some gold or Platinum or whatever expensive Fantasy metal is the best!

Eventually he uses the metal and iron slimes (iron will come later form one that starts eating pure iron , the metal was basically eating something like the sand which also has aluminum and I think other impurities) as self repairing weapons/tools like a katana (getting a decent Katana being too hard due to the distance to the groups who use them)

Pure iron is useless though but at least the black smiths can control the amount of alloy they can put into it but that’s just a bit more work.
