Why are all the bullies in manga and anime so over the top evil ? Not like "just an asshole" or "what a dick" level of bullying more like kill your puppy in front of you while laughing or arrange your rape because you answered a couple of questions correctly. A nice balance would probably normal levels of bullying with a prank going to far that creates these kinds of protagonists instead of these radioactive levels of toxicity.

This is so true like there are only either bullies that would later apologize and become the mc's friend/rival or bullies that would push you off the roof.
Maybe it's from the author's experience or at least their perspective on bullying since I've heard that it's really common in Japan.
