They are both wrong. Kanki and his squad are monsters, but shin is absolutely not a pure soul. Kanki is technically correct when he calls shin out, but that doesn't mean he isn't the most fucked up person in this series.

Shin knows he's not a good guy and that several people died at his hands in the war, but the line between that and the things Kanki does are totally different, Kanki is a complete psychotic lunatic who is only in the war to satisfy his sick pleasures.
