You assume this is a harem manga, or a romance manga. Despite the tags, it is not.

This is a manga about Kazamachi Kunpei, a brave, noble young man, who is always trying to do the right thing, even willing to put his life at risk to help a stranger.

This is a manga about watching him suffer.

(In all seriousness, I'm only partially joking. By the looks of it, it appears that a fair chunk of this is him having to deal with the problems of having children both at a young age, and in a way that he had no real choice in the matter, meaning he has to deal with stuff like "Girls who are in love with him and dislike the mother of his children", etc.)

".. and in a way that he had no real choice in the matter .."

why? he can support Aoi with the breastfeeding, their daughters etc.
and say no to marriage/Aoi as his wife

@TTX - I am 99% sure his brother and father would disown him if he did that. Besides, it would only matter if the male MC actually had romantic feelings for his childhood friend. Since he doesn't, there are no problems of him staying with Aoi, and with the passage of time, he'll eventually start harbouring romantic feelings.

Maybe he could simply have said "I can explain, but can we please do that somewhere else?"and everything would've been fine

Instead, she just starts to get agitated herself and does the very thing that she advertises against, namely saying it out loud etc.

These japanese authors always find a way to ruin a good setting and concept by making every character overly retarded.

Just tell her it's not something you want to discuss and be done with it. While at it, sit down with the cutest waifu and discuss exactly what your relationship is.

I can't believe any of these characters managed to live for more than 18 years and are still mentally underdeveloped.

There's a major problem with the she should have confessed sooner attitude applied to this situation. First, she didn't lose the protagonist to love like a normal romance story. She lost him to child support entrapment, for children he contributed to in no way to making, to add insult to injury. Normally, the main character would choose someone else, or at least would make a impulsive decision and knock up the girl. Here he had no option or contribution. Now, let's look at this again. Let's say she had confessed, and they were dating prior to the start. Would it make a difference? Obviously not, she would still be screwed. The dragon would still have come with the children. She would be up shit creek regardless. If anything she's lucky, and dodged a dragonsized bullet by not confessing sooner.

childhood friend is irrelevant

"I am 99% sure his brother and father would disown him if he did that."
is this japanese logic?

you support your children and there mother(without knock her up)
but say no to marriage = disowned???
