I finally tried some manjuu the other day. It was . . . not bad, but not exactly in the French patisserie or good chocolate cake league. Frankly I think Northwestern Europe (and by extension, to some extent North America) does the best desserts.

Eh, different tastes. I find US desserts to be so sickly sweet quite often. Frosting? I'll scrape all that off... donuts? Got an Old Fashioned? Muffin? Plain corn, please. And Cinnabon... I walk by one and can't decide if I want diabetes or a cavity.
