I remember when having single children without siblings was considered abusive too, causing them to be spoiled and selfish, because if kid grows up with somewhat different relations and experiences than the whatever the speaker thinks the social norm is, it means parental abuse. Oh, and raising kid as single mom was abusive as well, stunting their growth and whatever.

Some people can prefer concentrating on their family, even as teenagers, just like some people want to be housewives (or househusbands) and concentrate on raising kids over having career.
