Damn, the look Mizudori gave him was ice cold. But it makes sense—she probably feels like she can’t take on anything else right now. With her mom in the hospital and her basically having to “raise” Rei, her plate is already full.

I don’t even think the issue was Miharu springing the confession on her. If anything, she seemed a little receptive at first. It wasn’t until Rei called out to her that she pulled back, which says a lot about where her priorities are. And honestly, I think Miharu had enough rapport with her to ask her out like that without needing some big sit-down. Their relationship already has a level of familiarity and trust where his feelings wouldn’t come out of nowhere. So the problem wasn’t how he confessed, but when and what it conflicted with in her life.

It feels less like rejection and more like hesitation. If they did start dating, I don’t think it would actually disrupt her life as much as she fears—she could still spend time with Rei and maintain that dynamic. But right now, she can’t see past that responsibility. Until she figures out that she doesn’t have to choose one over the other, that fear of leaving Rei behind is always going to hold her back.

I need Ayaka to be like 2018 LeBron and carry this ship on her back.

I appreciate the author going this direction. They both have an immense sense of responsibility and it's good to see that they've internalized their family situations to such a degree that it very much steers the ship of their life decisions. And she has SO MUCH weight on her shoulders right now too, with her mother having a chronic condition and her father giving them nothing but financial support. This makes absolutely sense for her character in her current situation.

Yeah sorry but the people who say this makes sense aren't remembering the manga they are reading. MC has never gotten in the way of her taking care of her brother, if anything he's made it easier. He's also been a huge help for her mentally and he's the whole reason she's been able to relax lately and smile.

He has done nothing to indicate that he would monopolize her time or try to push away the little brother. There's barely any reason for their day to day to change even if they start dating. Sure it's gonna suck to not be able to go on dates or whatever but thats clearly a price hes willing to pay, they barely go out as is.

Yuki is just conditioned to think that Rei is more important than her own happiness and thats just not true. Even if it was, she has no reason to think this relationship would interfere with that. She just took a terrible decision based on nothing and broke his heart, so she better apologize for it.

If she has been bottling up that pressure without showing it until now, it’s quite possible that Aoba’s confession has shattered her stability. Faced with emotional overload, her only solution has been to return to the behaviour she displayed at the beginning of the manga.
