Novel is just as silly. Acute case of "Not adding every setting into your Japanese fantasy until it becomes incomprehensible mess challenge (impossible)".

I doubt it will happen in the same way. Basically in light novel, all the slice of life stuff you saw between them, kumo getting drunk and all, the party visiting a town, plus some more ,took place after the phenomenon happened. I assume that the light novel is different from web novel.
