I hadn't checked the whole dialogue before. So yeah, I'm certainly wrong about the massage. But then why doesn't the author simply show us what she's been up to? Why keep giving us glimpses of these dubious situations if it's not bait? Remember early on, when the MC thought she was having sex with a guy in her room because of her moans, but it turned out she was just masturbating? That one got resolved. All the other ones you mentioned don't. All of these situations feel like the same deliberate type of misdirection, and it feels like the author isn't too concerned with giving us the payoff. Not with this slow release.

Someone even brought up the Katsura Airi and GraPara! debacle, though it wasn’t a Japanese reader who mentioned it.
