Yeah, it’s a bummer that the writing has become so incoherent. They escaped the cruise ship using mermaids, but the mermaids are also under the thumb of the aunt. The aunt has announced the wedding to get her niece back and the mermaids can’t say no. So our MCs are getting married, not as part of some major plan, but just so they can be each others family.

When Xiao Jun originally was with the mermaids, she put a pearl in the deep sea to get the sea god’s blessing. Whether it’s real or just a nice gesture, who knows.
