So, there is an automated defense perimeter around the Japan habitat. Interesting, Oikawa is asking a good first question about the purpose of the defense perimeter.

My guess now is a sort of rise of the AI issue occurred in the past and was forgotten about by the people living in the habitat. It is possible that if an AI is running the habitat , that it has purposely infantalized the humans under its protection to make them easier to manage.

Well, one thing the opening musing could imply is that there is something maintaining the status quo as previously even major disturbances sorted themselves out eventually.

Of course even a meteor impact is limited compared to the kind of bullshit we've been up to. Though again even that would most likely eventually sort itself out if you talk about geological time frames.

And bloody hell I even studied physics and I didn't think of the correct solution to the barrel puzzle, though obvious in hindsight.

And bloody hell I even studied physics and I didn't think of the correct solution to the barrel puzzle, though obvious in hindsight.

I figured the water would slosh around too much to allow for the best speed. Depending on how the ice was situated inside of the other barrel, I figured that would either move as if it were a solid object (the water in it expanded enough to become pretty immobile inside) or that it would just slide around in there pretty smoothly being that it's slippery if there was enough room for it to still move freely, so it wouldn't pose that much of a problem either way compared to water sloshing around possibly pretty violently.

But now that I think about it again, the amount of water inside the unfrozen side probably would've mattered for similar reasons to those but whatever, it's not like I'm going to go out in my garage and pull some Mythbusters shit to check this out myself and I sincerely don't care enough to read up on it if it's an experiment people have performed pretty thoroughly out there in the real world.

Interesting now I wonder if the robots out there are to keep the humans in, and they where put there by the ancient humans before "summer vacation" because that was the only way to preserve the species. My theory is this either going in the "Wall-E" direction, or "Children of the Whales". I n either case it's not going to be a very pleasant discovery for our girl...
