Well, it doesn't really seem like he's making her tank in a traditional sense, more like a bait while he picks enemies off one by one from a distance in the narrow corridor. Either way, Satsuki's still better off being the vanguard if in case he misses a rushing lone orc. Should provide him more leeway to create distance while Satsuki hopefully finishes the lone orc since she's a speed-type swordsman, or probably make her duck and cast lightning bolt if it's a group rushing in, disorienting the enemy no matter what to buy more time for other moves.

Still would've liked to see either Lefinia or her daughter in the rear guard as backup in case things get really messy.

@mahtan I don't think the people are likely atheists but rather agnostic(Agnostic meaning believe there is a god but don't fall into a religion or just don't care for it) and generally speaking in fantasy world's it is not that uncommon for certain groups of people not to develop a belief in particular gods and just develop their own cultures. There is probably no god that represents their own culture thus no belief system. Hell if the elves had mages or healers who could do the same thing as a healer of faith than the belief system could be explained to further die down.

It really curious how they usually underestimate the elves in many modern stories. Elves should be much stronger fighters than the likes of Orcs, because they live centuries.
It means that they usually progress faster than even humans when it comes to warfare tactics, fighting experience and skill. 100 elves should've been more than enough to decimate and army composed of only high tier orcs. Orcs are physically stronger yes, but they only win wars when they have a huge advantage in numbers. Because inferior armor and intelligence would make them be underdeveloped in magic, stronger muscles would make them overconfident which would be exploitable in combat, even the smart Orc Lords and Emperors would know that they would need bigger troops, so this situation would only come to pass if they were attacking 20 elves or so. But for some reason, hentai maybe, they keep showing elves to lose just becuase they are "fragile"(not really true in most decent stories)

@BloodySorcerer its pretty common for elves on fantasy to dedicate themselves to arts and spirit magic as nature protectors, they have few warriors and are isolationist from other races or clans, instead humans having short lives, live all their lives trying to survive and expand their lands to have a safe place, wich in turn takes more resources and by that cause conflicts, forcing them to grow and adapt. Orcs in other way are bred fast, get strong fast, live less and try even harder to expand.

its true elves are not fragile, but this is not a country or a nation but a village, so they are fragile if in this case most of them are just common people and not warriors, they mention they only have a few of them and only one or two strong ones.

That's not how timescale preferences and progress work.
Humans cycle ideas very fast because the old guard dies off every quarter century, give or take a decade. That allows progress (or decline) very rapidly, because ideas go from radical to mainstream in the course of 50 years or less.
Elves, on the other hand, the old guard who oppose your new development because 'that's not how we did things when I was young' are there for half a millennia. Or more. Elves are the boomers there to tell the younger elves that they're stupid and worthless, and they're there almost forever. Good for preserving a golden age, absolutely terrible for development and progress.
