This stupidity of him suddenly losing his power is honestly just piss poor writing.. like, yeah, had to give him something of a challenge.. But a full fucking reset while his comrades are getting tortured/killed? Obviously with the theme of the story they are just gonna be beat up a bit and he comes back with lots of power... but that's just murder on ones suspension of disbelief.

I thought these manga artists had editors that would tell them when they wrote something stupid...

Is this based on a novel? So maybe no editor to intervene?

Anyway yeah this is pretty standard for building dread and frustration in the readers to then release that frustration when the MC comes back...
Can't forget the tortured damsel in distress to really rile up the emotions! :meguupog:

Wait, when and why did Ike lose his power? I can't remember rn.
Was it during the fight with the other commander? The fight...near the river? Or was it an ambush near a river?

MC is an idiot. What's the use of going back to the battlefield when you cannot handle even a few bandits by yourself anymore?
Just be a good boi and start your strengthening arc with the wise geezer over there.
if Vergil was there, he would tell him:

It's pretty weird the MC never realised the mana he used to power his spells never belonged to him and thus never regenerated. So, he had a finite pool, but had no sense of its limits, using it heedlessly believing it will last forever. Whoever gave him all that mana, without telling him he will run out eventually, with no forewarning of it happening, was quite nasty in that sense. Perhaps magicians in that world usually do sense their own level of remaining mana, like a person could sense their stamina level, knowing if they can still keep running for another kilometer or not, but Ike clearly didn't have any such sense thanks to only containing foreign mana in his body.

He naturally should be grateful he did get this far relying on the externally gained mana, but nonetheless it would have been polite and fair to warn him it will run out one day, so use it extremely sparingly.
