At least it's modest to a certain degree because in order to pull of this strategy, Ike still needed to watch plenty of his own troops getting slaughtered. It's just a pity, like you said, that the author's lacking vision meant Ike's talent had to be shown through an ass pull instead of genuinely brilliant and surprising strategy.the author think this is smart.
I think he is pulling crap out of their arse because they don't really know how to advance the plot.
If there was some foreshadowing, I might have believe it, but there's none. Like, even showing some sahagin in the background in previous chapters would have been fine.
So pretty much, instead of nakama power, we have "bullshit troops from nowhere power".
It’s still stupid and useless. You let an entire aerial unit die? Why? Even in rain they could have tossed Molotov cocktails at the boats and had minimal casualties. Still delaying the boats for the water monster ambush. This author is an idiot at strategy. The MC is only clever in that he wins through plot armor. At least it's modest to a certain degree because in order to pull of this strategy, Ike still needed to watch plenty of his own troops getting slaughtered.
