I expect he's creating an O2 vacuum while isolating the area of effect with nitrogen. I don't know how fast the reaction to the body in that environment but I'm pretty sure it can cause some damage with the sudden drop of pressure.

I forgot the assumed composition of air so it's hard to tell.

I'm assuming he's raising the nitrogen concentration around the body to maintain something close to 1 Bar/15psi of pressure. If he isn't then there's a chance that the oxygen in the body starts to rapidly escape - and therefore chokes the brain. Another way he could do it is to just "remove" the oxygen in the body, which - with how quickly his opponents collapse - is probably closer to what he's doing.

If we include oxygen in the body rapidly being burned as a side effect of the body panicking because oxygen was just suddenly gone then maybe a few seconds is enough?

My point was more that I think the oxygen in the blood is enough to keep you conscious for longer than happened. But maybe the statistics I referred to for inert gas asphyxiation is, as you say, time from entering such a volume to passing out. Meaning it would include the time it takes to empty your lungs of oxygen through breathing naturally. Then I guess it would make sense, if we assume the magic sucked out the oxygen in the lungs too.

Some groups need money to buy raws and pay for labor and such. So why shouldn't they be allowed to be get paid?

Granted, some of this group's translations are really bad, but some like this title, are decent enough. But not every group is made up of students doing this for fun and needs money to at least pay for itself.

not too much into chemistry, so i cannot delve into this discussion here. i'd expect him to maybe remove all oxygene so the phoenix flames run dry instantly or something? but spirit summoning is quite a step up from regular magic, i'm curious whether he can achieve that with science based magic somehow.

They're poor AI translations, they paywall all their stuff, watermark every page, have ass image quality, and they snipe series constantly. Rithar scans are terrible across the board. The only thing they often do but haven't this time is split the chapters.

I'm willing to bet they don't even buy the books to scan them, so screw that excuse.
