The best metroid fan theory I've heard is "Other M is Galactic Federation propaganda designed to discredit Samus after Fusion". In that vein, I think these comics where GF troopers are shown as anything but corpses (or soon-to-be) are best considered as tone-deaf recruitment propaganda ("Join the troopers! You might meet Samus! You might not die before she even shows up!")
