It was stated in the WN, so naturally it can get retconned, but it’s been six volumes since the war without him needing it, so I’ll doubt it changes.

Yeah, no, those girls both lied and broke their word. Boot them from your boats and as repercussion loan them to the opposing side for the remainder of the war, for plenty of cash.

I get they're friends and he's willing to lend a hand, but also he doesn't wanna be seen as a person who fights wars with a particular party and remain a humble and neutral merchant. I honestly hoped this developed in as a trade transport and travel way instead of it heading into a naval warfare saga
