His slime? Remember they found it and gave it to him.
They also have a working relationship with him that has earned him a ton of money in the past.
Then there's the personal aspect of them being friends with him. While not a "benefit" per say, he does seem to enjoy being around them outside of the fact that they are a group of pretty faces. There's been all sorts of small adventures/stories so far of them interacting in a friendly way.

Why risk life and limb for glory when you could like a life of luxury anyway?
Not sure what the gods expected of him when they gave him the power to enable living as a shut-in.

he is in a world he knows very little about and has been very clear his goal is to just chill and make money.
So the only reason he is doing anything is that they are his first friends in this world.
But outside of possibly being a doormat for girls, MC is acting perfectly reasonable.

He might be a god on water, but there is far more to lose the what he can gain from any conflicts since his power is so broken.
He could very likely gain more money from monopolising "risky" trades and he clearly does not care for status.
But the hijinx of the gods and the world pulling him into shenanigans he clearly wants nothing to do with is part of the fun.

They're supposed to be his friends, you know... The moment he starts doing such arithmetic, it would be obvious that he does not see them as friends.

Though I do admit that compared to a kingdom that sends an idiot to order you around, an empire that sends pretty girls seems more worthy anyone's time.
