Hmmmm. That's kind of sad and will get annoying real quick. Dealing with a person too afraid and making mistakes because of it where you have to clean up the mess is tiring to deal with. Constantly having to reassure someone to the point that you look like you are talking to a brick wall is frustrating specially if it's because of the same thing over and over. I guess I'm speaking from experience. You'd have to be extremely patient. I hope this is just an act from the FMC to get close with MC or something.

So, the genetics argument is BS if this manga is trying to be realistic. Genetics doesn't really do that to people, how they're raised and what happens to them does.

Now, since I wouldn't be able to accurately guess with any certainty at an unrealistic setting where genetics does that to people, I'll make a guess on the realistic take as to what I think happened based on what I've read here, in the previously linked twitter/X series, and the cover.

Dad died, mother buries herself in work (according to a caption under the X post), daughter feels lonely so mother starts dating a guy hoping to ease her daughter's loneliness.

This new guy ends up a PoS who SAs the daughter, or attempts to, while saying extremely damaging things like "no guy will ever want you once they find out" or "now no one will want you, you shouldn't have fought back".

Either the daughter was successful in stopping the SA by kicking the PoS in the groin, and so he retaliated by burning her eye with an iron... or she failed and burned her own eye to try and scare the PoS away or be not attractive to him.

Now she meets her childhood crush and, damaged, clings to him for both normalcy and hope that whatever was said to her by the PoS is wrong, and is terrified those words will be right.

I certainly hope there was no successful SA, because those kinds of events, as much as the victims don't deserve it, do make future relationships hard on both the victim and whomever they do end up getting together with in the end. Like, as a reader, I just feel bad even if the ending is good. I'm not a fan of those stories as a result.

Bittersweet just isn't my thing.

Looking at the pages on twitter, I may drop this, as it is one of these that was originally one page chapters, and there doesn't appear to be much of any story. it is her just using her large chest to distract the Childhood friend from her insecurities. That and her horrible past of having sulphuric Acid thrown in her face by jealous bullies, it appears to be dark humour with no redemption in sight.

Oh, wow, that makes things better than I feared, but doesn't explain the intensity of her personality turn around—at least not to me. Was one of the perpetrators her best friend or something?
