Gait identification, which means they have a recent video of the guy to compare it with, or even a database.

With that said he can easily get out of this if he makes the guy appear like he was hurt explaining the change in which he moves.

But it seems he didn't planned that far ahead.

They could run it themselves using open source stuff but you gonna need an IT dude to configure and run it not mentioning the cost . They also need the dead dude data to train on, maybe the syndicate kept a lot of his walking video lol.

Is the IT guy more likely to be a full time worker for the syndicate? what would his wages be like?
or
Could the IT guy just be a freelancer the syndicate has connections to? --> for example syndicate might bribe an IT guy who usually works with authorities to use gait ID tech once or twice.

They also need the dead dude data to train on, maybe the syndicate kept a lot of his walking video lol.

if I seem too obsessed with this, I apologize, I'm just trying to envision the full scope of the syndicate's operations to figure out what our MC is dealing with .

Probably a freelancer, maybe one of those darkweb services or they have some dude inside japanese university conducting research on the same topic or bribed a japanese government office dude to run with the dead dude data or maybe overseas mafia/triad contact to help them. And yeah the father seems weirdly overprotective to me, he might had someone to film his movement around.

Nobuto's father makes about 100 million yen a year, which is probably a fraction of the revenue he generates for the syndicate. We also know that without him, syndicate would lose 20-30% of it's revenue, so that is a rough estimate of the size of the syndicate, about 1-2 billion yen a year.

As for the motion tracking, it's not that fancy now compared to a few years ago, so shouldn't cost a fortune

@77BLc9JwJGpLVARkamJx The problem with that explanation is that if Matori kept a video database of his son's gait, then I fail to see how he could lose track of Nobuto's whereabouts right on the day he died.

To be fair, this series is very elaborate in its mind games, so of course we readers will go the extra mile looking for minor slips like this. Gait analysis is a cool trick on the author's part, but it doesn't work that effectively in this set-up. I had to translate a chapter of another series on gait analysis and it was more competently done. (Though that series isn't nearly as complex as this one.)

@Leo_Eridanus Oh, don't get the wrong idea, the series isn't sophisticated in the same sense of this one. And the gait analysis is just a thing in one chapter and not a major part of the plot. But instead of using it to judge whether one person corresponds to someone seen in a video, they use it to conclude that several videos are showing the same person in disguise.

If you're still curious, it's called Change the world, by Kanzaki Yuuya. However, I repeat, it bears NO resemblance to this one.
