So... They didn't even send a letter first before meeting them? Or even asked for a entry pass since they're no longer part of that kingdom? And here they were introduced as smart/intelligent/wise.

Yeah it's really rude to just show up in a persons country unannounced. They needed to send messengers informing them of the diplomatic mission ahead of time. Imagine if President Putin showed up unannounced in America or something it be weird. The hell ya doing here you know? Imagine he came in on a fighter bomber wtf.

@Ded_Weeb probably a guy who was always the best, but Chris came later and was far more skilled and likeable. The king prefers him to the point he'd always have a job even though he was the one who quit, so mr douche was looking for an excuse to kill him.

@Acolytus if they just saw them, its impossible for them to waiting on the border and prepared the trap...
moreover the information come from "SENTINEL", so she indeed give the notification about her arrival...
if Sentinel saw them, they surely try to stop them and ask them about their visit to the kingdom...

and no, like my previous comment said, they still got away easily no matter what MC try to do, since they are part of higher ups while MC and former CM is castaway from that kingdom

unless if she bring Greed with her...

@Nematoda It really depends on what a sentinel is supposed to do. I assumed the sentinels are simply the guys hidden along the border watching and reporting to the fort, since the information the mage was kind of lacking and MC didn't act like they talked with anyone before.

So the kingdom has no redeeming qualities. I mean how is it a mage has this sort of time and doesn’t even have to check with his king before turning away it’s former subjects?

@Acolytus well... Sentinels is guarding right? if they are hiding, its a spies, not Sentinels...
they have no reason to hiding and makes their post seems like a empty post...
and they do the right thing, report it to higher ups, it just their higher ups is so fucked up in the brain....

@sedition She is. Greed is her biggest bargaining chip. It antagonizes me that she actively tries to hamper herself so the author can attempt to create some tension. He has to stay behind for the stability of the country? Isn't she underestimating him a whole hell of a lot? Greed could wipe a country to the ground like it's nothing. I find it hard to believe she really thinks there's no way he could escort her on what would essentially become a very brief errand and maintain some presence elsewhere.

The author just doesn't know how to write in actual high tension scenarios unless they write out the main guy altogether, so they find these silly reasons for him to always never be around when he's needed the most. This is the problem with having mega OP characters. All reason goes out the window when they want to make things seem dangerous.

@Dragou okay so you’re being hella rude for someone I didn’t know existed before your stupid comment. Also apparently you don’t understand things as much as you thought you did because you’re argument for their actions is based on some seriously stupid assumptions.

So you’re saying the Head Magician has no right to make the decisions you did, correct, he doesn’t. However he DID make these decisions which is a clear act of hostility and may either mean someone gave him permission to be so hostile (the king) or he never reported to the king. Only in the second case would it be a good idea to still try to reach the king and make him aware then request for help but these three people have no way of knowing which situation it was right? Imagine it turns out to be the first (but because it’s a manga like this it probably won’t) and they go charging into enemy territory, get surrounded by an army and die or barely escape.

Now for the part where you said that Threnvale is the only place for Lord Greed’s country to gain help from. This may not necessarily be true. The reason they came to Threnvale is because our fl is from there and they thought it might help sway them, it’s not necessarily true that there aren’t other countries that could help. Also even if it was the only country that could help, running in rashly like that would be a horrible idea anyway.

And the whole “destroy the kingdom” thing? I never said that. I said they should come back with an army or Lord Greed himself and apparently your political and military senses are too blunt to realize that I meant to bring a show of power so that they know they have to negotiate.

Having an army stationed outside the walls of Threnvale would give the king the incentive required to start negotiations and not just ignore them like he could do if these two rashly jumped in. It doesn’t mean the army has to be put to use (and is best if it isn’t) but this is the most assured way of at least getting to talk to the other side. Also if you say something along the lines of “but gathering an army to march will take resources that they don’t have” well that’s why it’s okay to replace the army with Lord Greed. He’s not much help as king anyway since he has no idea about human affairs and what to do. Appointing a stand-in for a while and going on this trip would be well worth it since he’s the best intimidation factor, offense and defense so he’s flexible for any situation. Also this does not “make all other countries your enemy” because those countries understand politics and military strategy as well and if reached to a peaceful conclusion this won’t affect them at all but even if the kingdom is taken over they’d only be as wary of them as any other kingdom in war (plus the added “dragon king” wariness).

I hope you read my comment again and again so you start to understand all the flaws in your political understanding.

Like seriously. Why is she charging into other country without any written paper or stamp, that could become proof that you're indeed from other country trying to make relationship. Is she dumb or something

You all seem to forget that they did knew who that was, and they had time to prepare since that head mage was in his office when he was alerted.

Anyway you don’t shoot at a fighter plane without any warning. You should ask for their intentions and to leave restricted area ASAP instead, otherwise you risk a lot of diplomatic backslash. Especially if you knew about their arrival way ahead
