i bet there are tons of thesis papers/research essays of why japan seems more susceptible to cults and such but even in little stories like this i'd still love some kinda movie adaptation or maybe animated webisodes

lmao what a way to go, but shouting that would bring more attention, i guess if they're all powerful they wouldn't have to worry about cops versus laying low if not manipulation via propaganda or so

That was super sloppy, i wonder if that was planned or if he just spooked them? Surely they didn’t think they were being subtle when mapping out the incidents is like the first thing most people seem to do?

I wonder if the point of this one isnt... alright so we have the map thing and all. But what catches my attention is the way even screaming THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH N means once you die, people attribute it to 'N'. 'some religious group'.

It feels more as if part of it is.... 'creating the idea of an organization called N'.

I think you're on to something.

What stuck out to me was his earlier comment, "They'd need a huge number of people to pull something like this off."

I was thinking earlier, we've seen most if not all of the N incidents from the POV of people at the center, and a) none of them were cultists, b) the number of people around who could have been cultists was pretty small.

If you just looked at the incidents themselves and not at what social media/reporters say about the incidents afterwards you wouldn't think there was a religious organization at all. A religious supernatural entity maybe, but an organization? No.

EXACTLY!! Japans had a lot of trouble WITH cult behavior (which is fascinating, and has some interesting parallels to da US) but wouldn't you think. Huh. People doin wierd stuff. Copycat behavior about this letter thing.

But people always immediately take in the same, infectious narrative. "There is a religious organization called N, they are Dangerous, they do these things."
