there's many case of serial killer mostly due to broken family,abuse or being poor (hitler) but on rare case there also serial killer that has normal and happy childhood but still can being of serial killers.. This makes no sense to me.

@keruro01 Hitler was a madman, but I don't think he qualifies as a serial killer because likely he never killed anyone personally, not even in the Great War due to his post (not that working as a soldier would matter in this discussion). He gave the final orders to have millions murdered, but it's not like he would have been present when the deed happened to enjoy it personally, like a serial killer would. Just like Stalin, he simply could order the deaths of millions and think nothing of it, or in reverse he could think it's good for the country and the world. Just like terrorists can kill random people, not in order to enjoy it, but because they believe it's necessary.

If you are up for some equally terrifying topics, look into sociopaths and psychopaths. You know that terrible feeling most of us get when we do something we know is wrong? Psychopaths in particular don't have that so they could kill a person with no more remorse than if they cut them off in traffic.

There are varying degrees, and it might not surprise anyone to know that a bit of psychopathy actually gives a person and edge when seeking political or managerial positions.

I found a Quora post estimating the total number of serial killers in the USA and worldwide.
The rough math concluded 0.00008% (4% x 2% x 1%), which when extrapolated to a world population of 7.6 billion, means about 600,000+ serial killers.

Since MangaDex has just over a million users (including banned accounts and spambots), 1,000,000 x 0.00008 = 80 users who might very well be serial killers IRL.
(These are not to be confused with Serial Thread Killers, which have yet to crack the FBI's Top Ten.)

Psychopaths and sociopaths usually make for good candidates when they grow up with disdain towards humans. It can become a satisfying pastime to them, so after they've already done it once..... well...
That also could be why some serial killers give really vague answers as to 'why they did it'; it's a question for a completely different perspective.

But don't lump a huge group of normal people into the 'potential serial killers' box just because of that.

Since the first sign of a serial killer is the mutilation of small animals at an early age, I'm pretty sure they're born, not made. The good thing is though, there have been less and less of them. I'd worry more about psychopaths. They may not be able to feel empathy, but they're amazing at faking it. One could be your neighbor, sister, or spouse, and you'd possible never know, because most of them don't end up killing anyone.

-Child Abuse is a heavy indicator, but not necessarily with the case of certain ones like Dahmer. Substance abuse as well is an issue.
-Lack of development in the prefrontal cortex which controls impulse. Ironically, this also explains why many have bed-wetting problems up past the age of 12.
-Slightly below-average to Average IQ, meaning they have difficultly with problem solving and advanced, long-term reasoning that could help them solve issues
-Tend not to work advanced jobs, typically menial jobs (note that the exception to both of these is HH Holmes, but he is his own bag of worms, though medical professionals)
-Men tend to be serial killers more than women, which makes sense because men are more likely to develop anti-social behavior and have lower IQs, as they have a higher spread of results. However, women who are serial killers either are Black Widows (women who kill their partners), Angels of Death (Nurses or other caregivers that kill their clients), sexual predators, or seeking revenge.
-Serial killers tend to be solo-operatives, and crime bosses, and other groups such as the Mafia or gangs typically have their own classifications
