I honestly don't understand why he gets upset that the owner buys all that unsellable trash. It's not like he would get a raise if the owner was not wasting money on bulk crap products. I get he has the added hassle of trying to push/sell that trash to customers, but in retail there is always some b.s. your supposed to be promoting with every sale, weather it's a membership card or a sale item. That is just the nature of the job. The worse that would happen is the store closes because the owner is a moron, wasting money on inventory that never sells. Getting another crappy part-time job is not that hard, finding a good paying full time job it the hard one. So why does he care about his bosses idiocy?

And then you start thinking about how you know better and could do better but here you are, at the bottom of the totem pole while an idiot is in a management position. And you're getting paid less than the idiot, who may one day just say "hey shop closing, you're fired" and then you have like, two weeks to get a new job fast and have to settle for nearly anything since you're one or two missed paychecks away from forever being behind on bills and then being homeless or forced to move back in with a family where you feel like a failure because an outdated ideal state of living is still being shilled today without taking into account cost of living adjustments and corrupt late game capitalism.

Well, in a small percentage it could also be a personal pride thing. You are the face of the store basically and if you care enough then yeah, it would bother you that you have to sell stupid crap to customers who are always picky and have to take the brunt of it. But you dont quit cause its barely acceptable and you've adapted to the crappy job so it would just be easier to try and make changes in the work environment.
