Yui knows far more than she lets on. So does Marika. They really do remember much of what happened then, but they have different intentions with this omission of knowledge. Yui wants to let Raku figure things out on his own and make his own decisions. Marika wants to trick Raku into thinking she deserves to be with him.
The fact that Marika is so manipulative, and has been from the very start, is a big reason why I've been repulsed by her. Worst girl indeed.
I loved how Yui just shamed the hell out of her this chapter.
But here we are, almost 100 chapters from the end. A little over halfway... and we seem like we're so close to finding out everything, and yet so far, at the same time.
Yui has a very good point about the 'promise girl'. Just because they made a promise so many years ago, doesn't mean he'll feel the same way when they meet again. People change. Feelings change. What you thought was your ideal once upon a time may not be your ideal 10 or so years later. Marika serves as testament to this fact, as though she painstakingly crafted her 'mask' to appeal best to the Raku of back then, the Raku of now is rarely comfortable with her and most definitely does not love her.
As I keep reiterating... there are only two girls that he seems to have feelings for, and one of them he may just be fooling himself into thinking he is still in love with, or he still feels something for her but not as much as the one that has been growing in his heart without his noticing. The one that has been by his side for nearly one and a half years, now. The one he started out thinking he hated.
He is falling out of love with Kosaki and into love with Chitoge, and he just hasn't realized it. Or, at least, that's my current perception.
To reiterate... the promise is likely going to prove to be a 'red herring', so to speak. A promise made when you were a wee child, then separated for 10 years? Realistically, this wouldn't work out.
