Getting more thirsty from ice cream? What? Why? How? I've never had that experience. Is there something different about Japanese ice cream that causes this?
To me the biggest killer for ice cream when it is really hot is only that I'd have to scarf it down really quickly to keep up with it melting from the heat.

Personally, it's the same as when I'm drinking sweet beverages. I'm always thirsty for plain water afterwards
