It's not outright stated, but he probably should have listened to Genos and denied the offer lol.

I'll take that as Genos' character growth.
I also ought to give Mask some props for manipulating Saitama properly, more or less.

I feel like there is a lesson in it. But, I can't fully grasp yet.

Edit: Sweet mask have an ideal hero in his mind. But, he doesn't want to aim to that direction. Because he feel like he can't do it?
No wonder he was triggering off by "Soda boy" group earlier about being 'half-ass' aiming.

@Lithe: I was under the impression that Genos thought SM was talking to him there rather than advising Saitama.

Also, heck. To think Genos was right all along about SM back during the Alien Ship arc. Sweet really was super motivated by something in his past. Thought it’d turn out he was just a jerk.

Some juicy info on this chapter.

@Naskal He is already a monster. That's how his face changed the first time. As for right now, he's just trying his best to keep his mind as human as possible.

No, the point of his story was that he already IS a monster. The difference between other monsters and him is that he still manages to keep his sanity, but he's afraid he can't do that for long. That's why he got so angry when Saitama said we're all human because SM already told him that he's not one.

Whether he's a monster or not, we might see it in future chapters.

Y'know, considering what happens to garou and all, I think saitama really means it when he say that they're both human.

Well damn, there was a A LOT of information to handle this time, we're reading a story based on our world but in a post apocalyptic future, Sweet mask is a monster but most people already had that feeling. But to think he pretty much controls the hero association beyond class A? Now I truly believe he is S class, well I'm sure he can regain his humanity somehow, after all, even Garou changed his mind with enough serious punches.

As for Genos, it's very unlikely but I hope he gets properly updated this time or that it helps to study Saitama.

That rude motherfuck oh his mind is mosnterizing, well that explains a lot.

If he had offered money to Saitama he would have listened, but someone with the one tracked mind of a monster wouldn't have been able to see others perspectives, i bet he still hasn't figured out that Saitama is only hanging with him for the free food.

Making Sweet Mask an actual monster that stills has part of his human mind makes for an excellent scenario, because despite his intentions being for the better of mankind you can easily see how his obsession can turn him into a villain, something that we never got with Garou since he was just playing at being a monster while being on denial of his heroic actions.

In here however Sweet Mask has to fight his own mind and try to implant a counter measure so that his eventual downfall into complete monsterhood doesn't brings a calamity, but of course he is failing because as a monster he can't understand what motivates those different from himself, so he insist on talking from his own desires, for him everything is decided by appearances, masks and public opinion, and he can't no longer see past that, but the fact that he kind of knows what is happening to him makes this really interesting.

@Serenata Garou was never a monster, his "monster form" was a suit made with the blood and parts of other monsters that stuck to his body, he was a human playing pretend monster, Sweer Mask is a monster that is on the process of losing what is left of his humanity.

I'm hoping for the best for Sweet Mask, surprisingly. Maybe someday he can believe in himself and try to become the hero he wants Saitama to be.

there's more deep to Sweet Mask than I first thought, he is ok now in my book.

@Serenata he have already said that the only reason why he keep 1st A rank seat, it's because he does not want anyone who is not strong enough to reach 1st and become S rank, he is not S rank by choice.
