Great chapter! Definitely worth the build-up from all the previous chapters. We get to see some really good Suryeon characterization for once, I think this is the first time we get her first internal POV and thoughts. I was convinced that Suryeon would be serve as a foil for MC if she were to follow Iruha's footsteps and coaching (and all the mistakes she made with it), but I guess I was only half correct(?) She had the same type of breakdown as she did during the tv show performance but it seems like the catalyst of her breakdown was because she was rejecting following Iruha's footsteps?

I really don't know what to make of it though, considering this is the first time we get her genuine emotions and thoughts and it turns out to be the opposite of what it looks like from the outside observer looking through Suryeon's action (which seemed to be following Iruha's footsteps exactly.) Really the breakdown is far more similar to Yoil's rejection of Iruha motive-wise, stemming from her desire to be different from Iruha.

She seems to have managed to keep herself together enough up until she had to get off-stage. So, I think she's safe for now. It's nowhere near as bad as Iruha's breakdown live (whereas this is just the monthly eval) and she managed to debut! but it's also bad juju for her considering I doubt the studio wants idols as err... unstable as Iruha for their break out idol group. Interesting to see more of her, looks like this is a turning point from her just being the sole antagonistic force of the story to something more complicated.

Mooyoung's and MC's conversation was pretty intriguing and eye opening. We get the themes of the story (identity/personas, people foisting their expectations on you) hammered onto you. Mooyoung was adept enough to notice her mistake and apologize for it, which I massively respect. But it looks like she wasn't too far off anyways, MC does prefer Mooyoung taste's over the ones expected of the idols. But she's hard-headed enough to mask that and show the version of her that is desired by the idol industry instead in order to stay ahead. <-- but she realizes this flaw of her and probably wouldn't be so much of a tryhard next time.

Though it does seem like for the solo performance, Yoil 99% will pick a girly song in order to prove Producer Gu wrong in his assessment of her. She is err.... "bold" enough to want to show Producer Gu wrong, that she is infact skilled enough to be able to portray both the black swan and the pink swan at the same time (or whatever analogy that producer Gu meant by that). Having come to terms with her personal self and how she approaches femininity to choose out of her own free will to pick and stellarly perform a girly dance number. I guess that's a part of MC's personality, I like the MC for not being a total cardboard in terms of characterization. He does have a tiny bit of attention-seeking and egotistic streak (stuff that is actually a pro in the idol industry) while still being a generally nice lovely personable traits he has ontop of it. You can 100% see why she's born to be such a perfect idol. a multifaceted character that I enjoy.

As for the trainee eliminations, I'm honestly not so sure on who's going kaput. Team A is 100% fine, team B also barring Mooyoung, It remains to be seen how much of a slaughter it will be for team C

This chapter was amazing. Thanks for the translation.

I loved the parallel image if Sureyon and Iruha, but rather then freezing she pushed through in pure willpower, showing a stronger mindset then Iruha and that she really was different.

Yoil still being mad about that black swan comment is hilarious, I like the producers response too, you can feel that it was personal 😂. I'm curious about her outfit she's going to choose now.

Also Hayan is an adorable creature around Mooyoung, the bus stop scene has sone adorable background imagery.

I think Sureyon will be excused from solo performance in this one, but her track record and incredible team performance has her marked by Producer Gu.

It also felt like the first salvo of a romance. I'm sure Yoil will do her best to be the swan - both the black and the white one, and Mr. Big will melt in her hands. Kim Sanghyun is done for if this happens. And so is Lee Ruha.

Kontoru said that young Suryeon was sweet, but I'm looking at her and seeing the same driven and determined artist. Oddly enough, I'm getting a bad feeling about Summer Girl. I'm pretty sure we all love her, but I can't shake the sensation that she'll be kicked out due to her warm personality.

Interesting reveal of Suryeon's past, and the further discussion about expectations truly does relate to the social/mask angle that I've picked up on, so I'm happy to see I'm not delusional, hah.

And there it is—that stubborn streak showing up again! Not much for me ruminate there, however, as it's all just set up—so I'll just say I'm eagerly awaiting to see the results of Sanghyun's efforts.

Now I know Korea and male love interests with heinous vibes have a passionate affair going on but I seriously doubt that's happening.
He's for sure figuring out the Sanghyun/Yoil connection though.
I can see some bad things happening, he doesn't seem like the type to care too much about the best interests of the idols themselves.
Think he was also one of the big driving factors behind Iruha getting so pigeonholed back when she started.
He was there, he had the power and he had motive. Now he's probably trying something similar.

If you read the Iruha arc and the next 9 show, you can see that the producer didn't like Iruha from the start. He said regardless of his personal feelings it was up to fans to decide her fate. And when she confronted Sureyon she mentioned the producer n9t liking her because she was to similar to her.

The CEO being a former idol shows in this arc to with the fact he let Sureyon keep going.

I hope Suryeon debuts, she is a way more intresting character, talent wise, hard work wise and drama wise compared to comic relief like Dabi.

Though actual performance of Team B was cut bit short as compared to previous month ones, plus it was all over the place some panels of Team C performance then flashback then Team B. Not what I expected from finale of month long training arc. Though since solo performance is still left I guess then that would be actual finale to this training arc. Here Yoil proved her forte as cool Yoil. Next beautiful feminine Yoil?

Also what's with exceptional trainees becoming friends with Yoil and saying they really don't see their in future in idol industry first Oh Minji now Mooyoung. Is this conclusion of their character arcs?

suryeon is unpleasant but she is a hard worker, i hope she debuts, she deserves it, and i don't like that weirdo judge, he has a "i'm going to do a pretty bad thing" vibe
I just loved Yoil sticking it too him this chapter. I can hear the exasperated tone in his "...great" the expression says it all, he knows it was a personal attack from what he said to Yoil.

I'm with Izumi I want to see what Yoiru has got, its also nice to Izumi and Yoil talking some more.

Sureyon tried to make them fight and it was awkward for a while, but I think with Iruha back in the picture Izumi is doing better.

From what we've seen of Mooyoung it's not she doesn't want to work in the industry.

It's more she doesn't want to be an Idol, similar to Yoil she's not into cute and flirty, and she seems to want to direct more.

Her talent seems to be in choreography and adaptation, so unlike Sanghyun who didn't have the appeal to be an idol but the talent to be an instructor, she might choose that path.

I mean being an idol is hard work and she's young, I think her ranking was to tell her she was good at things and show there was more paths then an idol available to her.

Reading Han Yoil is the reason why I'm not insane because of waiting for KH4.
