Imagine if you posted a job asking a hardened war veteran to become a playmate for orphan kid...

"Girls wouldn't like playing with a ball"? you kidding me? That's stupid as hell. If this is a world where playing with a ball isn't even established, why are stupid norms like that be established about them?

That said, funny as hell that his solution to kids was making a head equivalent to toss around.

I once read somewhere that the first ever game of football/soccer was played between two teams of soldiers in the field of a conquered land with the ball being the head of the enemy leader, but maybe the apes had us beat and were doing it centuries before us.

@silverden: And being taught how to make potions, which is the real reward he's after.

Given how this grandma has been, it wouldn't surprise me if all 3 quests are actual tests she had in mind for him, and the receptionist girl only pretended to remember and ask about the 3rd one.
Help the old man with the massive bricks for little gain (hard work for almost no reward)
Play with the children (judge of how he handle the weak)
Help the monkey (will he accept the shame of 'failure' to help Doni out)

Maybe she wouldn't outright 'fail' him if he refuse the monkey quest, but she'll likely teach him less than what she'll be teaching now that he not only accepted the monkey quest, but took it one step further and helped him win and thus get to tell the lord his thought.

This is gold. This chapter got me in the heart. Man tied to protect his monkey, even if he had to lose him.

This series has really nice pacing. It doesn't feel the need to drag out the trivial things just for the hell of it; instead choosing to give a brief synopsis of it all and staying focused on what's important. I feel like some other series would've made each mission he took it's own chapter (or two) before getting back. Maybe that's just me.

Thanks for the release.

now this is how you should tell a story, not every goddamn event should be stretched to infinity chapters like those damned isekai(even the fking monthly release) with their damned op mc's where they show them struggling with a fight when they could just smack their enemies with their dick.
Lecan isn't even that OP and the mangaka just show him breezing through those tasks in 1 chapter.
