He was a creep and all, but I just feel bad for Stalker A. The problem with death as a punishment is that it prevents people from reflecting on their past actions and possibly changing for the better.

This scene also establishes that she's not a "misunderstood/reformed cinnamon roll" or whatever - she's still the same (attempted, now actual) killer she was in the past.

We don't see it clearly, of course everything points at her being the culprit, but we know that when she did snap in the past her crime wasn't as heavy as the flaming article described and from what I understand her parents didn't die, it stopped to a attempted murder, hence she being free.
It could be someone else, the guyat the end could be another stalker, or a detective that knows who she is, even with her new identity, or maybe is simply investigating her old case.

Re-read the chapter and I think I missed the "wrong person" text last time somehow.
I think she did push him, but thought it was someone else, possibly the guy in the car with the pictures, she had another stalker, possibly doesn't know his identity but knew it wasn't her co-worker.
