Though I do respect anyone's choice to continue or drop a manga and won't stop you from doing so, I personally think that though it's a complete 180 in terms of writing, it's interesting to see how this goes.

I mean, it's manga. You read it coz it gets away with some insane-o moments. It has its own unique artstyle and sensibilities. I'm staying to see how this shitstorm plays out.

Imagine a scenario where every character in this story gets gender swapped. I wonder how many people would still be saying that this is too harsh of a punishment if it had been a guy manipulating, brainwashing, abusing, belittling, and publicly shaming a girl for years. Add to that sharing a video of the girl as a child pissing herself while naked and sharing that video around with his friends just to shame her even more...would anyone be defending such a guy if he was suddenly blackmailed by the mob into whoring himself out?

And that brings us to the issue with having her redeemed - she's a good character BECAUSE SHE ISN'T REDEEMEABLE!
She is a villain to be defeated, she has been defeated, now we just enjoy the happy ending the protagonist deserves!

The story is good stopping right here, if the author wanted to continue it could have been the protagonist finding someone in the same situation as he was in with another abusive partner, but this time the situations change (maybe the victim of abuse becomes as abusive, or takes their own life as a result of the abuse, both scenarios showcasing what the protagonist could have ended up as if he hadn't broken up with Hanabi, and that leads to a new arc where he has to deal with the consequences of having failed to saved the person in the same situation as he was in)!

But don't try to redeem the character we want to continue to hate!
