I'll answer this because at least you're not being a jerk for no reason like the other guy was:
I am aware of the intent of the plot and the nature of the characters. I'm not dumb. My original post (which I have deleted because honestly I don't need the constant alerts of the "dumb" or "strike" reactions because people don't like what I had to say when I'm not really interested in continuing the discussion) was just meant to be a silly joke. I'm not here for the trauma-projecting "he's just like me fr" stuff or over-analyzing what is tagged to be a comedy manga. Just because I understand the characterization or plot intent doesn't mean that I need to engage with it on that intense of an emotional level, nor does it make me somehow lesser than others who are viewing their own loneliness or isolation through the lens of Tohno's reaction to Houjou (again, this isn't about you doing anything, just why I'm choosing not to really drag this out). I do have thoughts that would respond to this whole train of thought about fault and Tohno's complicity/culpability in how he gets treated but I'm not interested in sharing them because I really don't want to get sucked in to this whole discussion
Apologies for sorta dumping this on you, it just seemed like maybe the only opportunity I would have to do so and I figured that I could at least give you the courtesy of a reasonable response for not opening with some patronizing BS. Have a good day.
Thanks for your nice answer.
Happily, sometimes the not always fantastic things we read result in more interesting interactions among the readers (although, as with all things human, a lot is uninteresting).
And as you say, what we write, often reflects our own issues, whether they relate to relational mishaps, feelings of being misunderstood, inferiority, or some other thing or things.
The worst reaction is (well ...) to start flame wars. A not fantastic, but better reaction is to shut down. And, depending on preferences, the best might be to discuss the matters at hand, or to kick the discussion a step up, and discuss what is going on, like you.
So thanks again. Meta level can make us lift our eyes, and consider whether we are using our time in the best way.
