sometimes I wonder what's the point in having page-long chapters released daily as opposed to a 14-page chapter every couple weeks for a small story arc

He did make a couple of manga chapters, why use 4-koma style for this arc? Maybe he's limited to tankoubon releases for regular manga pages .

Actually it was meant to be a one-shot with about 30 pages. It proved popular enough that he kept going with it.

@descending_angel87 It was 30 pages, not 20. But yeah, it's also a thing with the company, Twi4 promises 4koma manga everyday all the 365 days on Twitter, as you can see here: https://mangadex.org/chapter/443793/26
So it's not the mangaka deciding the format but the publisher.
The couple manga chapters that don't follow a 4koma structure Chuggoth mentioned were some extra that weren't published by Twi4, they were only rough drafts the author uploaded to his own Twitter himself.
