I think he has a very firm grasp of how far his hands can reach and only picks fights he knows he can win. Sumire was a high risk case, but these two humans are easy victories with his skills and resources.

He's a manipulative bastard, but I do think he is fairly "good". also, the healthier she is inside and out the better her blood is gonna be.
