At this rate we may never know the reason
The real question is if the reason is actually worth the tension they're building it up to be.
As long as they don't keep harping on about it every other chapter like in Imouto Okazu, I'm willing to put it out of my mind for now.

I can't believe that Akine's mom starred in hardcore porn.
Shame she used her actual name, though.
It's it actually obscene? Or did he lie just to get away with not telling her?
He obviously lied to not tell her. It's why he apologized for frying her brains.
wow made me hate the mom even more now good job
Why?

I remember watching that movie. It's not that scary, but the way the movie presents itself is creepy.

I can't believe that Akine's mom starred in hardcore porn.
It was more "regular"

Seemed like a normal JAV in the first chapter
the av actress so doesn't look like the mother and she's missing the mole as well. not to mention that akine would have 100% recognized her mother when she was looking at the blu ray case in chapter 2.
lastly, there's no way in hell a shonen work would touch on the subject of young girls/women getting tricked into participating in porn productions.

A new character that the story is about to introduce soon.

I can bet my left liver that author doesn't have an actual reason in mind for why the mom is behaving the way she does. And I doubt it would be revealed anytime soon, as he continues to dig the plot's grave deeper with this made-up "mystery"

She's like, the most insufferable character in this manga though
Besides doing what she thought was best for her daughter and being strict in that regard, shes not that bad though, and once she calmed down she seemed pretty nice, she also changed her mind relatively quickly.
Its normal for anyone to have a few subjects where they just get easily irritated.

Mind you, we still don't know why she did what she did, and the author may literally not have a reason for it yet. All we've gotten is MC just telling us, after the fact, that it's a pretty good reason, because the author chickened out and cut away from the explanation.

I don't think it's too relevant, unless its something comically dumb like she hating movies because she failed an audition or something like that.
I mean it's not like she was abusing her daughter, she was just very strict. The kid didn't seem to have many issues aside from her paper thin resistance to ""erotism"", she has friends, good grades, she didn't seem to feel bored at school either and she doesn't seem stressed from studying too much either.

Its not that much of a big deal, just a somewhat questionable way to raise her daughter, plus there didn't seem to be any issues until recently, things were working well as far as she could tell and when problems showed up she changed her mind, she understood she couldn't let things stay like this and gave in as much as she could.

I think it's extremely relevant, given that it's the entire reason the series exists in the first place. This is the second time I've seen an author go ahead and reveal the answer to a mystery he set up... entirely off screen. Chekhov's Gun is king.

If the author is unwilling, or unable, to pay off the dumb mystery, he could have just said Akine is just personally reluctant to watch movies, and her activities in the club are entirely her trying to get over it because her sensitivity is leaving her in the dust. BAM. See? Why is she like that? Just born that way. Mom? She's not about to tie her daughter down and make her watch movies. Why won't she join? She's a teenager- of course she's wishy washy; she's forcing herself to watch movies as it is, now you want her to do club activities too? The series could have been about her gradually coming to love movies for what they are, and not for the developmental hurdle they represent.

I meant relevant in the context of "judging" the mother's actions
