You speak from the advantageous position of the reader, where you can see both points of view.

You have to see it from Hyce's point of view, prior to the point where Sasha kicked him out of the party it would seem unthinkable to him that she would ever betray the promise they made in front of their parent's graves no less.

And yet he was blindsided when she did exactly that, and again from his point of view she didn't do it to protect him, because she literally told him : "we want to advance to A-Rank and when that happens you'll only keep dragging down the rest of the team, and I plan for us to be the best team"

So in Hyce's mind she kicked him out of the party because she cared only for her own goals that apparently now don't align with the promise she made with Hyce.

So from the get-go Hyce's trust on Sasha had received a major blow, then for TWO MONTHS he had people talk about how Sasha and her party considered him the "shame" in the party's "records" and thus are trying to drag him down. Being bombarded by such rumors will inevitable take a toll on Hyce's already deteriorated trust in Sasha.

Then Sasha sends him to what appears to be a death trap, I mean would you believe that someone sent you in a "great herb gathering place", they themselves haven't scouted out or at least got info from the guild first? An SS+ rank dragon is not exactly something that's easy to miss.(and I am certain in the two years that have passed Hyce must have learned that the Guild was very much aware of the fact that this area was the dragon's nesting place, something that would not look good for Sasha in Hyce's eyes).

When you see it like this, you can understand why Hyce is like this. I assume his thinking process goes like this.(wherever I say "me" I mean Hyce)
"Sasha send me to die, but her plan failed, and now that my gift has been activated I managed to single handedly take down a monster that requires an entire party to kill." so :
A)Sasha is saying she didn't know to cover her attempt at murdering me pretending it was an honest mistake, and since the guild master is such a kind man he naively believed her.
B)Seeing my overwhelming power and realizing her blunder in kicking me out of the party she now desperately wants me a man that single handedly killed and SS+ ranked monster in her party and will obviously lie about her murder attempt, and the reasons she kicked me out of the party.
He probably knows the dragon stuff was a mistake by now, but she's still a bitch in his eyes.

wtf why did they do a 2 year timeskip right after the first chapter
Two year skip is a bit too soon. I can see two months maybe, but just jumping to him being the strongest when the last we saw of him was a bloody mess after using a grenade launcher? You gotta build him up. Now, when he jobs to something he shouldn't have, he'll just look super incompetent. Gotta earn that timeskip, not just say "oh he's strong now, don't worry about the details". Would've been neat if he went full gun otaku and fully described guns in detail as he built himself up as an adventurer, and that would've significantly improved his character overall.
Its telling when this much time gets skipped
The author doesnt have what it takes to make any of it interesting or its gimmick shit where he just wants to hit his redditsawman amv moment and doesnt care about writing anything of real value
Like MC went through 2 years of challenges and adventures...and none of that is relevant? literally how, go back to the drawing board
Well manga did it a bit different, for what i remember the novel start out already with him being S rank and attending this S rank thing, so the 2 years skip already happened, and what happened in the first chapter here was more of a flashback after the ceremony

Thats maybe why it feels more weird, since the story wasn't about him moving up the early ranks or anything, the story already start out like that

Yeah that's what I would suggest to make this less ass too
Start with THIS chapter and then fill in what happens before later
That way you wouldn't have any crappy time skips
You'd have intrigue about what happened to him and why he hates the other group
Its just all around better writing

I am going to ask your forgiveness and say I ain't reading all that. So if I miss a point you made, sorry.

I realize my position as reader gives me certain information the protagonist doesn't. That doesn't really address the issue I have with the fact that the escalation doesn't make sense.

There's nothing to gain from him being killed after getting booted from the party. It doesn't harm their reputation he is alive, everyone thought he was dead weight at that point. He certainly had no way to threaten them physically or other wise. It's either a net 0 or a loss if they were caught.

Coupled with their long history, even if the relationship was soured it wouldn't be crazy to want some confirmation, even if it's just a verbal confrontation.

I DO think that the initial betrayal allows him to make that assumption, especially in the moment, but two years on he doesn't even question events? Especially she's apparently not trying to kill him anymore? She attempted murder because she didn't keep her promise to be big and famous together doesn't really hold up to scrutiny, it does makes sense when it's fueled by his own anger and possibly self loathing for not being "good enough".

The short of it is

She has never once apologized to him at all during this time skip. She immediately left after he fainted to do more quests and never bothered to explain her side. Also, at this point, he is stronger than they are as a team. They couldn't kill him even if they tried.

ah yes the "i hate everyone" MC who'll totally in the future won't soften up to the girl
Nah he is actually only hate Sasha and her party, like he is a pretty chill guy as long as you don't use the S-word around him.
Like kkk grandpa that always chill as long as you don't mention The N-word
I hope I was joking about that comparison

I do kinda like how the betrayal wasn't ill meaning from anyone and that the MC isn't really wrong for thinking he was. Well, yet another series to add to the pile lol.

Oh, well that's dumb, and seems like a contrived way to stretch this misunderstanding out on the author's part. Here I thought there was going to be some characterization.

Yeah I get he's powerful, but in the immediate aftermath they could have still offed him, that was my point.

I dunno, the story is trying to do the tragic "kick out of the party" betrayal cliche while also trying to subvert it and It's not really working, at least for me.

The story really begins after the time skip. This was just a way to introduce the main point of the story. There is characterization, it just happens from here on out. Also, if they had killed him immediately after his return from his encounter with the dragon, that would just be confirmation that they really wanted him dead and would have completely ruined whatever reputation they have built up to prior.

I still can't get over the fact they called weapons master a weak role, like in general that's pretty powerful. Also I hope he uses other things than just guns cause when I think weapons master I think of this:
That is literally what robin(the best girl in Sasha party and the only one with emotional stability and fully develop frontal lobe ) say "his skill is 'master' class you dumbfuck (they don't know what buki(weapon) means) that means he must have a huge potential" not what she say but you got the point

Ok ok ok... i don´t care much about the time skip... and the edge did cut me a bit but we need to see the development of the character so, yeah... he had to stay edgy because of the time skip... hope i´m not shooting myself in the foot but i will give it a bit more time.

I do have some eagerness to see the other party having some regrets, not kneeling and begging forgiveness... but still just what type of expert party does not know about a terrible danger in an area?... i hope they gave them some sort of punishment, because that is gross incompetence and quite possibly really hard to think it was just a mistake... if i where there i would for sure think that the party just wanted to get rid of him... and if then, the guild did nothing about it?... i would think the guild is in on it?

But then again... the edge in this chapter makes me think that they will not think much about the details

Think about killing a rat with a granade launcher. That is his problem. He doesn't have access to precise weaponry yet.
