to be honest, i'm kinda bored with these horrible rank system based class series, but the MC is not just another overpowered isekai hero and there's actually some struggle involved here, so i don't mind it so far. i just hope the rank system won't be the ONLY fuel to any plot, aside from the mc's background, in this manga.

The rank system is not important, what's happening in truth is a civil war.
Class E is filled with commoners and the Old nobility (who recently took control of the school board) view them as a threat the problem is that this policy (select the most talented commoners and force them to give up though humiliation and violence) actually makes the country weaker, and it comes to bite in their ass later when the United States launch an invasion and starts a war. (the event where Butao and his family dies).
The new nobility dislikes the current system who made the adventurer school a joke, but they can only help if someone strong from class E appears.

MC will meet a very powerful noble from the new nobility here, and they will exchange contacts, she's the successor of a clan made up of female assassins.
She will feed him with privileged information and other stuff.

Does this series get better? I like the idea of the MC being a wildcard who's trying to do his own thing while other reincarnators are having a tug-of-war with the story, but it is getting to be kind of a drag watching him stand back while everyone around him is getting shit on.

If you actually read you'd know why he didn't at the time and that the sister in fact got revenge herself later. The MC still holds a grudge against them as he is even considering allying with the kunochi girls in order to protect himself when he goes after that group those douchebags are under.

Also you can see from the latest chapter what messing with the story does. The prophet girl now believes the ranker the MC beat is the real hero and now she won't support the actual hero of the story. That same ranker is also the reason his class is being bullied because he messed with the story.

He knows how to break the curse but is unable to at the moment and he has no real reason to at the moment to go through the effort.

Sister is not stronger he knows all the battle styles of the game as he's the top ranker and knows how to use the skills of the games most efficiently which is how he was able to go ahead to head against 3 rankers despite the huge gap in each fight.

it does get better he starts training two of the girls and his family. Right now he's trying to get one of the girls he trained to teach his childhood friend. The student council president is aware of how strong he is as well as the kunochi girl and her aunt, the spy girl, the girl who is always wearing armor to hide her fat, his family and the two girls (one who is a ranker) and the two other rankers. Right now he's worried about going against those people who tried to get his sister killed as they work underneath a bigger clan/guild. Which is why he's training his family so he doesn't have to worry about them getting hurt if he goes against them or anyone tries to do something to get to him and to survive that future event that other comment mentioned.

Then it's probably the female ranker forget her name but she can probably beat the sister despite level gap like MC did. Also prophet girl apparently has that special armor so idk.
