Totally agree on the brother. The mere fact that her family let this happen to her makes them irredeemably shitty people that might as well be villains in my eyes.

Her brother isn't suddenly suffering from stomach cramps and ulcers because his sister acted up. He's suddenly feeling over a decade of pushing a problem unto someone else crash on him at once. The problem was always there, and he was just content as long as he was allowed to ignore it. This is exactly what he deserves.

Apparently the idiot prince's behavior only recently came into light, but I'm pretty sure Scarlet's family knew beforehand. If not, then that's a whole other problem.

From what it's told this very chapter Scarlet's father and brother new thank shitty second prince behaviour and how grew to be rotten spoiled yet they let it be for a decade if not more.
They didn't give a shit about Scarlet's happiness, they were totally after political power by marrying her into the royals, that's why when her brother hears from first prince Scarlet's is popular now as a town's heroine he lose it, not because he's worried about her but because now she is no longer bargain material for political marriage.

It could be that they were trying to modulate that idiot’s behavior. That other great villainess story where she goes to jail also had an imbecilic prince that erroneously thought he was her better. They were obviously doing a ton of investigating behind the scenes; trying to root out corruption. It was a dick move, but it worked out when she throttled them all. I don’t think she ever was going to be married to him anyway; seeing as how the first prince enjoys her so much.
