Huh, the adaption of the compound bow is a particularly interesting development. As the manga mentioned, the bow was invented in the 60's. So unlike introducing other bows designs (or other weapons), it's a design that never got to be used to war despite its origin was for war (and hunting, to be fair).

If the design was invited earlier, it would have been a revolutionary design for bows, but since it was invented after even nuclear weapons, well I guess part of why it took so long for someone to invent it is because other weapons got invented that obsoleted bow for warfare.
