welcome2atlantis, he put himself in this situation. It's not as if he can't quit and find another more humane job if he truly wanted to, even if he would get less pay and get used to new work. I mean, he's not even TRYING to change his life despite complaining 24/7. If there was a good reason for why he wasn't able to change things or take any risks of getting less pay, like if he had kids to take care of, I would've sympathized more with him.
Seriously though, I would rather be euthanized than work like him. It's nothing short of torture and there's no point in living if you work so much that you can't feel any happiness in life and can't even enjoy days off or hobbies, to enjoy your own life, fuck, you can't even truly use your money for what you actually want since you don't have any time, like buying games but not being able to play them, wow. He just sleeps through his days off, seriously. Now it's bearable because he has the fluff, but before she came, he lived a life where suicide would be happiness and relief. There's only so much a human being can take before they self-destruct.
Why the author didn't make him happier and more energetic after the first few chapters is beyond me. It's truly hard to like a guy that puts no effort into changing himself, that's broken and that has always been a dreary guy who doesn't even appreciate his friends. The "his ancestor is the reason" bullshit explanation for why the lolibaba fox came doesn't fit well with me, he's just not worth it.
