Oh, no. Mia! I got it that she is jealous. She have been aiming for better for her shadow.

It's kinda sad that she have been influenced by her shadow.

Ah, Barbara can now speak properly without Barbie acting as her intermediary. Also, a crying Belle is actually very cute. I think I’m starting to fall for her.

Kinda think about it.. The doll influenced the shadow. So mia's shadows abusing her might be her own doing. Maybe she has some machosist thing going on. Anyway I can see the betrayal coming soon from her.

Man I hope Mia's personality isn't being too warped by Sarah

It’s always so satisfying when the MC’s efforts and skills are finally aknowledged by others. Kate is definitely the smartest Shadow in the Children’s Building and I hope she can bring to her side Barbara and Oliver, they seem like good kids.

@Borderline

Remember than Mia has been physically abused by Sara from day 1 and also under the brainwashing effect.

As andriod16 said, the shadows are influenced by the dolls, not the other way around. The dolls' personalities are reflected in the shadows. Kate is an exception to this, and now John to an extent.

If you remember, in the chapter where we see Sara beating Mia, Mia specifically asked her to do so. It wasn't a punishment or for fun, Mia brought a lash or whatever to Sara and said something like "Please help me do better as a living doll". Or something along those lines. Sara responded "Very well" and only then did she begin hitting her.

You're forgetting that was after a scene were Mia returned to her room and found the doll Emilyko made for her broken and sooty handprints covering every inch of the room. It's pretty strongly implied that it was Sara's doing.

Edit: It's in chapter 20, where Mia is also mentioned to have a 'strict curfew'.

I feel like Sara/Mia kind of... follows the 'shortcuts' to trying to be a leader- a trait they both share. Being a snitch and a suckup kind of behavior. Even if Mia was kind to Emilyko, you know...?

Like, ferinstance: it says a lot that Sarah's first instinct is to demand to know what Kate did, rather then reflect on why she didn't get it herself.
