Its too bad, the light novels seemed to be really good; I guess they didn't sell well? Or perhaps the author has some personal issues getting in the way. Either way, time to binge read the web novel.

So sad that the part they gave a chance to was the beginning. I mean, it's for obvious reasons, but the first two volumes of the web novel (which is basically what they have covered) are just a really long introduction.

It's understandable, though. The manga script didn't really capture the magic of the web novel, and maybe it was never going to.
