i dont know what you think character development is, but Iris has none of it. Harold is something between a lvl 30 MMO Character doing low level fluff quests and a Doormat who has never had the agency to make his own decisions, Yuna is an Otaku Creampuff, and Shinzo Abe is a Book. nah some civilian gonna die and they blame yona as she's demon king child, they do some witch hunt and force harold the hero to kill her, the endAnd then, this supposed old friend died unexpectedly. The couple then got trauma, divorced, and then the world got destroyed.
